Chocolate Chip Pretzel Cookies
These cookies have become a quick favorite! They offer a nice combo of salty and sweet with the bits of pretzel and chocolate chips.
Ingredients
1 cup (2 sticks) salted butter (room temp)
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp baking soda
2 - 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup of your fav chocolate chips (I use semi-sweet)
1 cup of Itty Bitty Pretzels
*You can use any type of pretzel you prefer. For larger-size pretzels, I recommend breaking them into smaller pieces before mixing them into the dough.
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit
Cream together butter and sugar.
Add egg and vanilla then mix.
Add baking soda then mix
Add flour - slowly mix until just incorporated then increase speed and mix for about 1 minute.
Using a spoon or silicone spatula mix in chocolate chips and pretzel pieces.
Scoop a heaping tablespoon of dough onto parchment-lined baking sheet.
Bake on the middle rack for approximately 12 minutes.
Allow cookies to cool for a few minutes on the tray before transferring them to a wire rack or plate.
Tips/Frequently Asked Questions:
If you are using a Kitchenaid mixer be sure to use the paddle attachment for these. Using the whisk for a dough like this may break the wire!
I only have unsalted butter, is that OK?
Sure! Unsalted butter will work just fine - you may want to add some salt into the dough. About 1/4 tsp salt would be good!
Do I need to use parchment?
Nope. It is ok to use an ungreased cookie sheet, parchment makes for an easier clean up and they won’t stick to the pan.
I’m not a fan of the salty/sweet combo, what else can I use?
Instead of adding pretzels you can use only chocolate chips or add walnuts.
What does tsp/Tbsp mean?
tsp stands for teaspoon. TBSP is tablespoon.
